If you're a teen, you might be feeling overwhelmed, lost, or like you're struggling with something that no one else can see.
If you're a parent, you might be feeling concerned, stressed, or like you're not doing enough.
1 in 5 U.S. teens report symptoms of anxiety or depression, and it's not because of bad parenting or a lack of willpower. It's because life is hard, and most people haven't learned the skills to effectively deal with their negative thoughts and emotions.
The good news is that anxiety and depression are both very treatable, and I have 9+ years experience working with teens and treating anxiety and depression, including 2 years working as a substitute teacher in Denver Public Schools while obtaining my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
I offer one-on-one individual counseling for adolescents (15+) and adults.
I struggled with social anxiety and depression myself as a teenager and young adult, and it's why I wanted to study psychology, become a counselor, and learn more about how to deal with thoughts and emotions. I have used my skills and knowledge to build a meaningful life, including a rewarding career and an amazing family.
I would like to share my skills and knowledge with you to help you build a more meaningful and rewarding life as well.
I accept Kaiser Permanente, United Healthcare, Cigna, and Self-Pay.
I'm only able to offer virtual counseling and teletherapy at this time.
I practice Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is an evidenced-based behavioral science model grounded in research and recognized as an empirically supported treatment for a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety and depression.
ACT is all about finding meaning and motivation through your values so that you can accept the hard parts of life and commit to making your life better, one day at a time. And you can do that by learning more about your true values, and how you can live more in line with those values.
ACT also offers a huge variety of skills related to accepting uncomfortable emotions, getting distance from unhelpful thoughts, being present and focused in the moment, understanding your self-identity and who you really are, and committing to being the kind of person that you really want to be.
